LGfL / TRUSTnet Training Courses

We offer a variety of courses on the Atomwide provided and supported products available as part of an LGfL or TRUSTnet connected school's package. Most courses are available for Nominated Contacts though some are available to all staff members. Please see each individual course for all the details. LGfL / TRUSTnet training courses are free to attend for LGfL / TRUSTnet connected schools. New training courses will be announced here as soon as they are available to be booked.

How to use myUSO

This course is open to all members of staff in primary and secondary schools subscribing to LGfL or TRUSTnet. It will focus on the modules available within the myUSO website and how to use the available features.

Prior to attending the course please ensure you have visited the myUSO website found at my.uso.im at least once to enable the service for yourself. Ideally you will also take some time to look over the available features to ensure you have some familiarity with what is available prior to attending.

Your participation is vital to get the most out of this training session so please prepare a couple of questions or items you wish to discuss.

The course will take place at Atomwide's offices in Orpington BR5 4BQ.

USO Basics for Nominated Contacts

This course is intended for LGfL / TRUSTnet Nominated Contacts from all technical backgrounds (in both primary and secondary schools) and is particularly relevant to individuals who have only recently become Nominated Contacts.

This course aims to give Nominated Contacts greater familiarity with USO user account administration and configuration of the email system.

Topics covered will include:

  • Introduction to USO and related concepts
  • Raising and tracking support cases with the Service Desk
  • USO account creation and administration
  • Configuring USO-AutoUpdate, understanding data export results, resolving account queries
  • Creating StaffMail aliases, shared mailboxes and resources mailboxes
  • USO-driven mailing lists
  • Email filtering
  • Using and administering myDrive in your school

Each section will include a question and answer session and there will be opportunities to speak to Atomwide staff members regarding specific issues during lunch and coffee breaks

The course will take place at Atomwide's offices in Orpington BR5 4BQ.

SIMS Training Courses

Atomwide offer a range of SIMS training courses throughout the year. These courses are available for delegates to attend regardless of whether they subscribe to the Atomwide SIMS Support service or not. If your school has purchased Atomwide SIMS Training credits they will be deducted accordingly by booking on and attending a course. Staff: Personnel Essentials

Learn about the maintenance & management of staff personal, professional & contractual data. This course is targeted at staff with responsibility for updating and maintaining personnel information. No previous knowledge of SIMS is needed.

Features include:

  • Adding and managing staff records
  • Maintaining contracts and service agreements
  • Recording absences
  • Pay related information
  • Report generation

Finance: Daily Financials

Get the most out of FMS in order to develop efficient financial management processes. The course is targeted at school staff responsible for maintaining school finances. Knowledge of the school's finances would be an advantage; no previous knowledge of FMS is needed.

  • Perform everyday school financial procedures
  • Adding orders and invoices
  • Process cheques and BACS payments
  • Reporting

Attendance: Monitoring Pupil Presence

Learn how to use SIMS Attendance to fulfil the school's attendance monitoring requirements. The course is targeted at staff with administrative responsibilities for monitoring pupil attendance. Delegate should have an understanding of the school's attendance policy, basic knowledge of the SIMS software would be an advantage but not essential.

Understand how to store detailed information on school assets, however big or small. This course is targeted at staff responsible for maintaining details of school assets. A basic working knowledge of FMS is required.

  • Reports and analysis

An essential annual process to configure SIMS for the next academic year (all school phases). The course is targeted at staff responsible for preparing the new school year in SIMS but are unfamiliar with the process. A working knowledge of SIMS including Pupil Records is required.

  • Preparing for the 2016-2017 academic year
  • Pupil Leavers and Admissions
  • Staff changes
  • Dealing with CTFs

Understand how to customise SIMS to support the school's individual assessment framework needs. The course is targeted at assessment co-ordinators or school staff with responsibility for overseeing pupil assessment. A working knowledge of SIMS and the school's assessment framework is required.

  • Tailor SIMS Assessment to your school
  • Create custom templates combining various assessments
  • Generate mark sheets for teachers to populate
  • Enable historical progress comparisons
