LGfL / TRUSTnet Training Courses

We offer a variety of courses on the Atomwide provided and supported products available as part of an LGfL or TRUSTnet connected school's package. Most courses are available for Nominated Contacts though some are available to all staff members. Please see each individual course for all the details. LGfL / TRUSTnet training courses are free to attend for LGfL / TRUSTnet connected schools. New training courses will be announced here as soon as they are available to be booked.


SIMS Training Courses

Atomwide offer a range of SIMS training courses throughout the year. These courses are available for delegates to attend regardless of whether they subscribe to the Atomwide SIMS Support service or not. If your school has purchased Atomwide SIMS Training credits they will be deducted accordingly by booking on and attending a course. SIMS: Essentials

Obtain the key skills requires to use SIMS for essential office processes. This course is aimed at new users of SIMS in office-based, administrative roles. No previous knowledge of SIMS is required.

Features include:

  • An overview of SIMS
  • Pupil Records – Adding new pupils, editing existing and updating key data
  • Admissions – Dealing with the admissions process and CTFs
  • Generating necessary Reports
  • Customising the Home Page for instant information
  • How to access Help Guides and quick reference sheets

10:00am-4:00pm at our SIMS Training Centre in Orpington.

For subscribers to the Atomwide SIMS Support service, the course will cost 1 course credit per delegate. For non-subscribers the cost is £350 per delegate.

Finance: Dinner Money

Learn how to streamline your school dinner money processes using SIMS. This course is well suited to finance and office staff who are responsible for monitoring pupil meals. A working knowledge of SIMS Attendance and Pupil Records is required.

Secondary: Organising Academic Classes

Ensure your school academic structure is set up correctly and manage curriculum class changes. This course is well suited to curriculum managers or staff with responsibility maintaining academic class memberships. A working knowledge of SIMS along with an understanding of school curriculum structures is required.

SIMS: Processing the School Census

Taking delegates through the preliminary preparations for the Census return, including the procedure for creating a return & correcting any validation errors. The course is well suited to staff with responsibility for preparing the school's Census returns. A working knowledge of SIMS including pupil records is required.

  • Meeting DfE requirements
  • Collecting essential data
  • Resolving errors and queries
  • Reporting on your data
  • Uploading your Census return

Get the most out of FMS in order to develop efficient financial management processes. This course is well suited for those staff who are responsible for maintaining school finances. Knowledge of the school's finances would be an advantage; no previous knowledge of FMS is needed.

  • Adding orders and invoices
  • Process cheques and BACS payments
  • Reporting

Learn how to make timetable changes throughout the academic year. This course is aimed at staff in schools that are responsible for making timetable changes. A working knowledge of SIMS along with an understanding of school timetable structures is required.

  • Carousel rotation for staff
  • Timetable transfers from NOVA to SIMS
  • Utilising Non-Class Codes
  • Alternative curriculum setup

This course is aimed at school-based administrative staff who are already using SIMS and want to learn new skills to streamline their processes. A working knowledge of SIMS and an understanding of Pupil Records is required.

  • Producing Labels
  • Personalised Attendance Letters and Certificates
  • Mailing Points
  • Creating basic Reports
  • Bulk updating data

SIMS: Maintaining System Access to SIMS & FMS

Grant access to SIMS & FMS along with defining specific permissions for staff within the school. The course is aimed at SIMS managers, office managers and any other staff with overall responsibility for the SIMS system. Delegates should have an understanding of the SIMS software.

  • Revoking accounts
  • Password management
  • Deploying Homepage configurations
